At the cove in front of our hotel, wearing a mask and diving into the clear blue sea, you can see the remains of one of the cetarian baths, the so-called Domiziane, of the ancient Roman Villa Domitiana Positio. They date back to 36 BC. and belonged to various Roman emperors including Nero.

Characteristic also the seabed as it is rich in Posidonia oceanica that here assumes the characteristic of outcropping, becoming a unique and rare sight along the coasts of Italy.

Desirable tourist destination during the 1930’s and 1940’s, where the Miss “Queen” and “Princess” of the seas of that time were elected. The beach of Giannella is the most beautiful of all Mount Argentario.

It’s a sandy beach with many bathing establishments and a long stretch of free beach. The beach of Giannella is perfect for families and children, while at a sporting level it’s very good for sailing sports.

The history of Santa Liberata is as fascinating as the beauty of the area. In 1376, in the middle of the Avignon captivity, a ship carrying Pope Gregory XI to Rome, ran into a storm and found shelter in this area first called Santa Reparata and then Santa Liberata.

Santa Liberata is situated on the border with Giannella, and it is a small port used by small and low lying boats and another of the beaches frequented by tourists who love the northern part of the coast of Mount Argentario.

Still along the northern part of the coast of Mount Argentario not far from Hotel Villa Domizia, are other unique and beautiful beaches able to thrill tourists.

The Soda, so-called since the end of 1800, because of the presence of an industry for artificial soda, is characterized by wonderful sights and crystal clear water. Il Pozzarella is situated in the cove just after the Soda and is a very peaceful area ideal for relax. With the sirocco wind the sea is limpid and calm.

The Bionda owes its name to an enchanting female presence that lived in one of the villas of the area during the 1950’s and a cove with no bathing establishment and bars, perfect for those who love the panorama and relax in total tranquility. Next to the Bionda there is the Cantoniera , so-called because of the Casa Cantoniera of the town which stood there about a century ago. It’s a characteristic beach with small pebbles and sand and crystal clear water. It’s one of the most frequented beaches by residents.

The other three beaches can be found not far from Hotel Villa Domizia and they are the Moletto, small but gracious, the Caletta, characteristic with deep water, perfect for those who love swimming and the Cacciarella, wonderful “punto dell’Argentario” (point of Mount Argentario) with a cave known as “Grotta del Turco”.
